An employee at theCity Commissioners Office was gunned down in front of his mother’s North Philadelphiahomein one of four homicides that plagued city streets last weekend.

On the 600 block of North 12th Street, near the Union Transfer venue, two unidentified gunmen fatally shot Leonard Boyer III in the head and back as he got out of his car Saturday evening, according to the Daily News.

“It was just complete disbelief,” Commissioner Al Schmidt told the Daily News. “We’re a small city department, and everybody works closely together. This was somebody we saw and worked with every day.”

Boyer joined the department in 2014 to train election board officials, Schmidt said.

Police have said they’renot sure why Boyer was targeted.

“He had just parked his vehicle and was walking to his mother’s house when two unidentified males walked up to him and executed him, shooting him several times,” Philadelphia Police Department HomicideCapt.James Clark told6ABC.

“They didn’t take anything,” Clark said of the gunmen. “They just ran up on him and executed him.”

Boyer was transported to Hahnemann University Hospital.He was pronounced dead at 8:28 p.m.,Philly.comreported.

On Monday night, a vigil was held near 12th and Spring Garden streets for Boyer, and was streamed live on Facebook.
