21 mind-blowing Eagles stats from dominant win over Giants

Posted

The Philadelphia Eagles didn’t just beat the Giants; they ran through them. Behind a thunderous ground attack and an opportunistic and efficient Jalen Hurts, the Eagles rolled to another statement win.

The Birds piled up 427 total yards and two 100-yard rushers in the process. It was physical and ruthless —the kind of win that reminds the league that the Eagles may still have the most dominant offensive line in the league, when everything is clicking and everyone is healthy.

Birds by the numbers

1, sack for Jalen Carter, his first of the season. The interior line contained Jaxson Dart and did not allow him to step up in the pocket and scramble as effectively as he did in the first game.

2, the number of 100-yard rushers the Eagles had. Tank Bigsby and Saquon Barkley both hit triple digits in a ground-game masterpiece.

3, kickoff returns for Will Shipley, good for 99 yards and a 33-yard per return average. The improvement in the return game created shorter fields for the offense.

4, the number of sacks for Moro Ojomo, this season who continues to emerge as a disruptive force up front and is leading the team in that area.

5, touchdowns were Dallas Goedert’s previous career high. Goedert celebrated National Tight Ends Day with two touchdowns, bringing his season total to 7 — a new career high.

6, tackles for Zack Baun, who added one sack, one tackle for loss, and two pass breakups in one of his best games of the year. He is still playing at an All-Pro level.

6–2, the Eagles’ record through eight games, marking the fourth straight year under Nick Sirianni they’ve started 6–2 or better. It’s tied for the longest such stretch in franchise history (1947–1950).

7, the number of tackles for loss as a team, the Eagles had against the Giants. The negative plays put NY in a hole almost every series.

8, run plays in which the Eagles used Jumbo personnel, producing 114 yards and a touchdown, an unstoppable power package. H/T to Shane Haff for the stat.

9, pressures by rookie EDGE Jalyx Hunt, a career-high performance that included one sack on Jaxson Dart.

10.6, yards per carry on under-center runs, the highest mark by any team in the NFL this season, per Next Gen Stats. Brett Toth thrived!

11.6, the yard per carry average for Tank Bigsby, who ran the ball 9 times for 104 yards.

14, the number of carries for Barkley, who gashed his former team for over 100 yards by halftime and finished with 150 yards, good for a 10.7 yards per carry.

15-of-20, Hurts’ passing line: 179 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, and a 141.5 passer rating. He had total command from start to finish.

18.9, yards per catch average for Jahan Dotson this season, who is giving the Eagles another deep-ball weapon to stretch defenses.

20, the total number of touchdowns for Hurts on the season. He is beginning to orchestrate one of the league’s most balanced offenses.

114.4, Hurts’ passer rating through eight games, the highest by any quarterback in Eagles history at this point in a season. H/T Jeff Kerr for the stat.

267, the total number of receiving yards for DeVonta Smith over the past two games.

276, the Eagles’ total rushing yards, averaging 8.4 yards per carry as a team. A season-high behind a dominant offensive line.

427, total yards for the Eagles offense. They had balance, explosiveness, and efficiency all rolled into one.
