A suspect in the killing of a 93-year-old man who was found dead earlier this month inside his Logan home was apprehended Sunday, according to authorities.

Police said that officers arrested 53-year-old Coy Thomas on Sunday morning in the area of 22nd Street and Lehigh Avenue in North Philadelphia. He is expected to be charged with the murder of Lafayette Dailey.

Investigators had identified Thomas as a suspect wanted in connection with the elderly man’s homicide on Friday morning. There has been no word on a possible motive, though Dailey’s car, keys and wallet were missing from the scene.

Dailey was discovered at around 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, with chest lacerations and head trauma inside his house on the 4500 block of N. 16th Street, according to law enforcement officials. The PPD said a post-mortem exam determined he died of multiple stab wounds.

Authorities initially asked for the public’s help in locating Dailey’s Chrysler 300, though the sedan was found several days after his death.

A viewing and service for Dailey is scheduled for the morning of Thursday, Dec. 18, at Deliverance Evangelistic Church in North Philadelphia, according to a post on the website for Jason Lloyd Funeral Home.
