MLS had a wild week one of its 2024 season. 15 matches were played; one as a special season opener, and then 14 magical weekend MLS matches! Each match was the beginning of what each club's fan base is hoping is a MLS Cup-winning campaign. Let's take a look back at all of the highlights from week one of MLS!
MLS Week 1 Highlights
The first match of 2024 was a special Wednesday night edition of MLS. League favorites Miami had their home opener, where everyone was hoping Messi, Suarez, Busquets, and Alba would turn back the clock to make the Herons look like prime Barcelona. That didn't happen, but Miami did get an opening day W.

As week one progressed to the weekend, 21 clubs kicked off their seasons playing in 12 Saturday matches. MLS Cup winners Columbus opened their title-holding campaign at home, and Western Conference juggernauts LAFC and Seattle squared off; there were surprising upsets, and only one scoreless draw on the first Saturday of the 2024 MLS season!

With the season getting underway, MLS wanted to put some marquee matchups on the first Sunday afternoon/evening of the year. They did that by having the Supporters Shield winners take on the worst team in the league from last year; getting an "unstoppable force" taking on an "immovable object," and the league's most winning franchise take on Messi and friends. I bet they thought there would be goalfests and not three draws!

Week two begins Saturday afternoon!
The second week of the MLS season kicks off on Saturday afternoon. There are two matches at 2 pm, one at 4:30 pm, and then 10 throughout Saturday night! There will also be a lone match on Sunday afternoon to complete the MLS week 2 slate!
