West Philadelphia will see a manual makeover with over 700 volunteers coming together for ACHIEVEability’s third Impact Day.
The activation, presented by URBN, will take place on Friday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and focus on revitalizing homes, restoring community green spaces, cleaning neighborhood streets, and completing a variety of hands-on projects.
“Impact Day is one of the most powerful expressions of what’s possible when community and commitment come together,” says Jamila Harris-Morrison, executive director of ACHIEVEability. “Each year, volunteers show up not just with tools and resources, but with heart. For ACHIEVEability, it’s a day that reflects our belief that a thriving West Philadelphia is built through collective action.”
Impact Day started in 2024 and already has seen significant impacts. Over the past two years, the company has invested more than $400,000 through a combination of financial support, volunteer efforts, and in-kind resources. In 2026, URBN will build on that momentum by bringing together its design and construction expertise, ACHIEVEability’s community partnerships, and the energy of hundreds of volunteers to help revitalize more than 150 homes, enhance over 50 neighborhood blocks, and restore several community green spaces.
“URBN is proud to be the presenting sponsor of Impact Day for a third year," says Dave Ziel, URBN's Chief Development Officer. "Impact Day represents our shared commitment with ACHIEVEability to invest in the neighborhood where we got our start. We are excited to bring our expertise, resources, and volunteers to West Philadelphia to continue to make a lasting impact.”
This year’s volunteer efforts will be concentrated along the 56th through 60th blocks, from Market Street to Vine, and will include Block Beautification (things like weeding, sweeping and more), Porches that Pop (powerwashing, installing mailboxes), Green Spaces (planting, painting), Tree Tending (weeding, mulching) and Creative Projects (crafting and designing vibrant décor to bring color to the neighborhood).
Impact Day’s growth is also reflected in its increasing volunteer participation, rising from more than 500 individuals last year to over 750 this year. ACHIEVEability also secured $300,000 to support its community revitalization work in years past, but in 2026, the aim is to raise $350,000 to further strengthen its anti-poverty programs and expand its reach across West Philadelphia.
Volunteer opportunities are open and available to residents, corporate teams, and nonprofit partners.
