For the second straight week, an ugly and unproductive second half doomed the Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) in a 34-17 loss to the New York Giants (2-4) at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night. The Eagles mustered just 115 yards and five first downs in the second half and have dropped back-to-back games for the first time in the regular season since losing the final two games in 2023.
Trailing 20-17 entering the third quarter, the Eagles' offense could not find the rhythm they had in the first half - punting on their first three possessions before Jalen Hurts threw his first interception of the season, which ended a promising-looking drive on the Giants' 15-yard line.

The fifth and final drive ended in an A.J. Dillon fumble, putting a bow on what was the worst half the Eagles played this season.

The Eagles' defense, down two key players with Jalen Carter being ruled out prior to kickoff and Quinyon Mitchell leaving the game in the first half with a hamstring injury, struggled to contain rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and a receiving corps sans Malik Nabers. Dart threw for 195 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions while adding 58 yards on the ground. Fellow rookie running back Cam Skattebo bulldozed his way to 98 yards and three touchdowns.

The Giants scored five touchdowns on their 10 drives while going 10-for-14 on third downs.
In the first half, the offense looked solid, orchestrating a pair of scoring drives of 8 plays, 75-yards and 13 plays, 74-yards. Dallas Goedert led the way for the Eagles with nine catches for 110 yards and a touchdown. The tight end has scored five touchdowns in the last four games.

Jalen Hurts finished 24-for-33 for 283 yards with a touchdown and that ill-timed interception. Saquon Barkley got off to a strong start in the game rushing for 56 yards on eight carries but only had three carries for negative four yards in the second half.
The Eagles will have 10 days to go back and see what went wrong in a game that they were essentially dominated in all aspects of the game. The Eagles are back on the road against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday October 19 and look to avoid losing three consecutive games for the first time since Weeks 13-15 of the 2023 season.
