According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles are trading Cam Jurgens and a 2027 7th-round pick to the Ravens in exchange for a 2027 5th-round pick and a 2028 2nd-round pick.

The news comes less than 24 hours after Lane Johnson announced his retirement from the NFL, and with Landon Dickerson still on IR, it leaves the Eagles down three starters from the lineup they entered the season with.
Jurgens is coming off of a torrid outing against the Rams, where he later self-reported concussion symptoms but had performed poorly prior to that outing. According to PFF, he ranks 73rd out of 74 offensive guards overall.
The move is shocking given the Eagles signed him to a four-year deal worth $68 million in 2025. He was named a Pro Bowler that season. However, in January, Jurgens underwent surgery to help relieve nerve pain that had bugged him all season. It's possible that the surgery could have played a role in his rapid decline.
As things stand, Willie Lampkin would be the replacement for Jurgens — an undersized second-year player who shined brightly during the summer.
The Eagles could well end up fielding an offensive line featuring Lampkin, (R) Marquel Bell, and second-year center Drew Kendall.
It's a drastic move to make for a team that should be competing. Was Jurgens that bad that the Eagles had no other choice but to swallow a massive chunk of that huge contract? Was that the smartest thing to do after Lane Johnson's retirement? We'll have no way of knowing until we see what Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni have in store.
