Report: Eagles could be without Dallas Goedert for 'multiple weeks' after MCL injury

The Eagles could have some tricky decisions to make ahead of their week 3 showdown with Chicago

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Eagles TE Dallas Goedert could be set to miss multiple weeks after spraining his MCL in the win over Tennessee.

The news is obviously difficult to take for the Birds. Not only has Goedert been a staple of the Eagles offense for years, but even at 31-years-old, he's still giving defenses nightmares, with 2 touchdown receptions to his name already in 2026.

The real question now is who actually replaces Goedert. Howie Roseman may be tempted to explore the open market, or poach a player from a practice squad. Justin Joly is a young name that springs to mine, while a veteran Zach Ertz, who was linked with Philly not long ago, makes sense as an immediate fix.

Grant Calcaterra is on IR along with rookie Eli Stowers, leaving Johnny Mundt and E.J Jenkins as the only viable tight ends on the roster. Mundt did register two catches in relief of Goedert, but can he be trusted to be thrust into a starting role? The 31 year old has been in the league since 2018 having registered 666 yards and 4 touchdowns over his year career, but will Nick Sirianni be comfortable without a true release valve over the middle?

Only time will tell, and hopefully the injury to Goedert isn't anything too damaging long term. It shouldn't be given it's only a sprain, but injuries have started to hamper the two-time Super Bowl champion over the last few years, and it would be a shame for what could be one of his final seasons in Philadelphia to endure any more bumps like this.

The Eagles have some difficult decisions to make moving forward.
