The Philadelphia Eagles continue to make efficient moves to help bolster their offense and defense. After re-signing Dallas Goedert, the Eagles have now signed WR Marquise "Hollywood" Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $6.5 million. After losing Jahan Dotson to the Falcons in free agency, Philly needed to make a move for a reliable WR3 to help improve their new offensive attack.
Brown is the type of deep threat the Eagles have been missing since DeSean Jackson's retirement. Brown can extend the offense with his unique speed and open things up for DeVonta Smith, Goedert, and possibly A.J. Brown, if he stays.
This also helps the run game, as the Eagles acclimate to more motion in their scheme. Brown’s speed will keep defenses honest enough to help Jalen Hurts analyze the coverage that he is facing on every down.
While this deal has a ton of upside, it does come with one concern. If the Eagles do trade away A.J. Brown, then is Hollywood Brown the band-aid for the time being? Would he become the WR2? It would make more sense if they feel that a receiver they are high on could be snagged early in the draft.
Brown missed most of the 2024 season with the Chiefs but bounced back decently in 2025. He finished the year with 587 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns on 49 receptions. He averaged 12 yards per reception, which is the third highest in a season throughout his career.
All in all, this is a good deal for both the Eagles and Hollywood Brown. If this offense can find its footing early on, then it could be in a prime position to cause issues for opposing defenses.
