Eagles' Offensive Coordinator interview tracker: Get to know each coach

Posted

The search for a new offensive coordinator is well underway for the Philadelphia Eagles. With interviews having taken place over the weekend and more on the horizon, here's all you need to know about the process so far.

Eagles interview Jim Bob Cooter

Albert Breer of MMQB reported on Sunday that the Eagles had completed an interview with Jim Bob Cooter. This shouldn't come as a big surprise due to the overlap of Eagles coaches both past and present.

Cooter has already worked with the Eagles back in 2021, reuniting with Nick Sirianni as an offensive consultant following his Lions departure. He had previously shared a touchline with Sirianni in 2012 when the pair coached at Kansas City.

Following his short stint with the Eagles, he took on a passing-game coordinator role with the Jaguars before becoming the Colts' offensive coordinator in 2023 - a role he's held since under, you guessed it, Shane Steichen.

The Colts' offense could've truly been something special this year had it not been for a myriad of injuries, but even with that in mind, Jonathan Taylor set a career-high in rushing yards with 1,585, surpassing his previous best of 1,435, which he set just one year prior, under JBC's tutelage.

The move makes a lot of sense from a familiarity perspective. Steichen, according to Breer, is open to Cooter leaving for a play-calling opportunity, and his relationship with Sirianni and Steichen, who of course also shared time in Philadelphia, could be a key factor.

Brian Daboll & Former Eagle to interview

Brian Daboll was fired by the New York Giants following another disappointing season, but is reportedly set to interview for the Eagles' OC vacancy, having already interviewed for Tennessee's HC gig, according to Adam Schefter.

Daboll of course has a relationship with Jalen Hurts, as the two spent a year together at Alabama in 2017.

As a Head Coach, Daboll has struggled, but his work as an OC with the Bills between 2018-21 is worth noting, as he helped transform Josh Allen into one of the NFL's most dangerous quarterbacks.

The Eagles are also reportedly interested in Mike Kafka, who was Daboll's offensive coordinator during his New York Giants tenure. Of course, Kafka was once a draft pick of the Eagles back in 2010, but has carved out a strong coaching career, working with the Chiefs and later the Giants. In fact, he took the reins from Daboll after his firing, going 2-5 in the few games he held the position.

Eagles requested to interview Bobby Slowik

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday night that the Eagles requested permission to interview Dolphins senior passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik for their offensive coordinator postion.

Slowik,  a Princeton, N.J, native, spent the 2023-24 season as the offensive coordinator with the Houston Texans, helping C.J. Stroud win Rookie of the Year in 2023. Prior to that, the 38-year-old has spent the majority of his coaching career under Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco from 2017-22 in roles including offensive assistant, offensive pass game specialist and offensive passing game coordinator.

Last season, he worked alongside Mike McDaniel an expected top candidate for multiple teams, but the Dolphins offense struggled in terms of scoring ranking 25th in the NFL averaging 20.4 points per game. They ranked 26th in passing yards per game, but 12th in rushing yards per game while finishing 18th in EPA/pass and 17th in EPA/rush.

Eagles to interview Josh Grizzard

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported that the Eagles will be interviewing Tampa Bay Buccaneers' former offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard on Monday.

At 35,  Grizzard is another young, offensive minded coach who had his first taste of play calling with the Buccaneers this season after being promotoed after Liam Cohen tookt he head coaching job with Jacksonville.

The Buccaneers' offense took a step back statistically under Grizzard, finishing 21st in total offense. Tampa Bay has some fire power with Baker Mayfield, Bucky Irving, Mike Evans, rookie Emeka Egbuka and more. However, injuries forced the Bucs to not have all of their weapons on the field at the same time for stretches of the season.

In 2024, Grizzard served as the pass game coordinator for Tampa. Prior to that he got his start as a coach in the NFL with Miami, being on the Dolphins' staff from 2017-2023 holding multiple roles.

Eagles interviewing Zac Robinson

Over the weekend, the Eagles were reported to be lining up an interview with former Falcons' offensive coordinator, Zac Robinson.

Perhaps best known for his early surge as a coach with the Rams under Sean McVay, where he spent time working with quarterbacks and wideouts during their meteoric rise, Robinson moved on to Atlanta in 2024 where he coordinated the offense for two years.

The Falcons may have struggled on the surface, but Kirk Cousins enjoyed a strong year in 2024, while the group showed real signs of life prior to the injury sustained by rookie QB Michael Penix Jr. in 2025. Big years from Drake London and Bijan Robinson certainly help make the case as his track record of developing skill-position stars only builds.

Robinson is bound to be a popular name this offseason, and the Eagles are wise to take a look.

Eagles complete interview with Matt Nagy

The Eagles have interviewed former Bears HC Matt Nagy for their offensive coordinator vacancy. Nagy, who worked with Andy Reid in Philadelphia between 2008-2012, has split his coaching career between three teams, the Birds, the Chiefs, where he worked with Reid again from 2022-2025 as a QB coach and later offensive coordinator, and a short stint as Head Coach of the Bears.

A coach from the Andy Reid tree feels very Philly, but when the chips were down and the Chiefs' offense had little to work with, the team fell apart in 2025.

Nagy has a wealth of experience and of course has been a part of some huge Kansas City teams, but with Patrick Mahomes at QB, it's the same as Kevin Patullos situation - winning is the expectation.

The interview is interesting due to the familiarity with the franchise, but it's not a move that would scream huge improvement without needing to dive a little deeper into the tea leaves.
