The Philadelphia Flyers announced they loaned Alex Bump to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL) to make room for Michael Bunting.
Bunting is the newest addition to the orange-and-black. He was acquired on October 6th and signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract for the 2026-27 season. The move comes after a rough start for the Flyers, with the team looking to add some more offensive depth.
The Flyers are 0-2-2 through four games. The team has been outshot 158-77 and outscored 17-5. The veteran will be another option for the Flyers, who have yet to win a game.
To make room for Bunting, the Flyers sent Alex Bump down after an underwhelming start to the season. Bump appeared in three of the four games so far this season with the Flyers, scoring zero points and averaging 12:08 minutes on the ice. He was a healthy scratch for the team's fourth game. This comes after Bump appeared in 17 games last year, scoring 9 points.
The 22-year-old will likely be called up again later in the season, but for now the young winger will head to Lehigh Valley.
The Flyers now prepare to take on the Ottawa Senators at 7 p.m. ET in Ottawa on Thursday night.
