Just one month after being released by the Philadelphia Phillies, Taijuan Walker has found a new home.
It was reported this afternoon by Jeff Fletcher, Los Angeles Angels beat writer, that Walker had signed a minor league deal with the organization.
On April 23, the Phillies released Walker due to poor performance. This was around the same time that Zack Wheeler was returning to the big league club, and the Phillies saw their veteran right-handed arm as the odd man out.
The four-year member of the organization was 1-4 with a 9.13 earned run average with the Phillies in 2026.
In his tenure in Philly, Walker pitched in 89 games, making 71 starts. He finished his Phillies tenure with a 5.12 earned run average and a 24-25 record.
Walker's best season with the organization was in 2023, where he went 15-6 with a 4.38 earned run average in 172.2 innings.
Fletcher reports that the veteran will report to Arizona, where the Angels' rookie ball teams play. This will give him a low-stress environment to rebuild his arm strength, preparing him to return to a starting role.
The Angels have one of the worst rotations in Major League Baseball. They are 24th in starter ERA, which is carried by Jose Soriano, who has pitched to a 2.44 ERA in 11 starts.
