Libertee Grounds tees up mini-golf, beer fest for anniversary event

Posted

If your idea of a spring Saturday involves craft beer, mini-golf and a little friendly competition, Libertee Grounds has you covered.

The Fishtown mini-golf bar is bringing back its annual Masters Tournament and Booze Fest on May 9, turning the space into a laid-back, high-energy mashup of putting greens and pouring taps. From 1 to 6 p.m., more than two dozen local breweries and distilleries will be on hand offering bottomless 4-ounce pours, alongside food specials, a live DJ and free mini-golf for the public.

This year’s event doubles as a milestone: Libertee Grounds is celebrating five years in business. Expect a few extra touches woven into the day — a decked-out golf cart for photos, sweet treats and a general birthday-party feel layered on top of the usual festivities.

The beer list leans heavily local, with names like Tired Hands Brewing Company, Tonewood Brewing and Wissahickon Brewing Company pouring alongside bigger players like Dogfish Head Brewery and Samuel Adams. Local distillers, including Stateside Vodka and Bluebird Distilling, will round out the lineup.

Off the greens, a pop-up makers market curated by Garden Vintage will bring in local vendors selling vintage clothing, jewelry, ceramics and art — an easy detour between rounds or refills.

At the center of it all is the tournament itself. A 50-player qualifying round will kick things off, with the top 25 advancing to the final Masters showdown. The winner will receive a coveted custom green jacket, a pair of Phillies tickets, a free lifetime membership and their name etched onto the official LG Masters Trophy and banner hung from the rafters.

Even if you’re not aiming for the leaderboard, the event is designed to be accessible. Entry to the space and mini-golf is free, while Booze Fest tickets — which cover the unlimited tastings — run $30.
