Man killed in shooting at North Philadelphia park

Homicide detectives are investigating after a man was fatally shot Saturday evening at a North Philadelphia park.

Officers were called just before 7:30 p.m. to the 3200 block of N. Howard Street, the site of Jose Manuel Collazo Playground, authorities said. They found a 26-year-old man in the park area with a gunshot wound to the head, and medics pronounced him dead at the scene, according to police.

The PPD has not publicly identified the victim. No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the killing, and investigators have not commented on a possible motive.

Through Feb. 7, 11 people had been murdered in Philadelphia this year, down from 22 on the same date in 2025, according to PPD data.
