Philadelphia 76ers’ star guard Tyrese Maxey has been off to a tremendous start to the season. The 25-year-old guard has proven to be an early candidate for the league’s MVP award and has now been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

According to the League, Maxey earned the honor over fellow vote getters Jaylen Brown (BOS), Cade Cunningham (DET), Josh Giddey (CHI), Jalen Johnson (ATL) and Ryan Rollins (MIL).

In four games, Maxey led the Sixers to a 3-1 record, averaging 33.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game while maintaining solid efficiency, shooting 46.7% from the floor, 39.5% from three, and 89.2% from the line.

Maxey’s defense has also been noteworthy, helping the team hold off the Orlando Magic, climb back into their matchup against the Washington Wizards—nearly doing the same against the Boston Celtics—and dominate the Nets in Brooklyn Sunday night.

Many have questioned Maxey’s potential, whether he’s destined for greatness or very good-ness. While he’s only six games into his sixth season, Tyrese Maxey is reminding folks around the league that the one thing you can expect from him above all else is that he will get one percent better every day.
