MLS Matchday 12 Preview: San Jose duels Vancouver, Union faced with another tough task

Nashville SC and the San Jose Earthquakes remain at the top of their respective conferences following MLS Matchday 11.

The New England Revolution moved up to second in the East, leapfrogging Inter Miami, but they are both on 19 points.

San Jose and Vancouver take each other on Saturday night. The two top teams in the West go toe-to-toe. If Vancouver wins, it will be level with San Jose on 28 points for the top spot in the conference. If the Quakes win, they will extend their lead at the top.

The Philadelphia Union hosted Nashville last Saturday in a match that ended in a 0-0 draw. This weekend, they face another tall task against the Revs at Gillette Stadium. The Union looked like the better team at times against a Nashville side that rested many of their regular starters, but they still couldn't find a goal or three points. It won't be easier against the Revs on Saturday night.

This weekend's Walmart Saturday Showdown will feature the Seattle Sounders hosting San Diego FC. Sunday Night Soccer will feature Minnesota United hosting Austin FC.
