The city will be full of pride this weekend.
Out & About MNYK is set to return to the Philly neighborhood once again this Saturday, Oct. 3, in celebration of National Coming Out Day.
The annual LGBTQ+ event invites the community to a full day of inclusive entertainment, performances, community organizations and local business specials. This year’s programming includes a queer-inclusive group run, drag story time, an open-air drag show, a karaoke dance party and a special presentation of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ featuring Philadelphia’s Transylvanian Nipple Productions.
The festivities will kick off at 9 a.m. with Philadelphia Runner’s Out & About 5K with Queer Run and Hoka. The run is free, approximately three miles, and open to all. Then, at 11 a.m., Philly Drag Mafia’s Brittany Lynn will host a Drag Story Time in Art Alley on Gay Street, followed by an open-air drag show at 1 p.m. featuring more performers from the Drag Mafia and DJ Da Boo Boo. The afternoon will continue with a Karaoke Dance Party at 2 p.m. All of the daytime events on Gay Street are free and open to the public.
The Philly Drag Mafia has participated in Out & About since its launch in 2019 and is once again a central part of the celebration, a release notes. Philadelphia Magazine named the group Best of Philly for Best Drag Shows in 2022 and Best Drag Brunch in 2023. In 2025, Philly Drag Mafia also partnered with Visit Philadelphia and Philadelphia Gay News to set a Guinness World Record for the most attendees at a drag story time reading. Their return to Manayunk this year includes the morning event and afternoon performance and dance party.
Out & About MNYK will conclude on Saturday with two performances of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ at Venice Island Performing Arts Center at 6 and 9 p.m., with doors opening at 5:15 and 8:15 p.m.
Transylvanian Nipple Productions’ Live Shadowcast will bring its long-running Philadelphia production to the stage, recreating the interactive experience of the cult classic. Tickets run for $20, and costumes and audience participation are strongly encouraged. Prop bags will also be available for purchase, and as an extra bonus, each ticket holder will additionally be entered into a raffle for a basket curated with items from local bookstores Cupid’s and Thrillerdelphia (with one winner selected at each performance).
Manayunk businesses will also join the celebration with food, drink, entertainment, and promotional specials, including pride pancakes and drink specials at Blondie, margarita pitchers at Cactus Cantina, Dark & Stormys and specialty cocktails at Lucky’s Last Chance, specials at Taqueria Amor/Riptide Tavern, and additional events at The Brass Tap, The Cresson Inn and US Hotel Bar & Grill. Anyone interested can check out the businesses' socials for more information.
“Out & About in MNYK highlights the diversity and heart of Manayunk,” notes Manayunk Development Corporation Event Manager, Carla Ferro, in a statement. “We’re proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community and create a space where everyone feels seen, celebrated and welcomed.”
