Investigators have released images of the SUV involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 20-year-old Temple University student last month along Kelly Drive.
The fatal collision happened at around 11:15 p.m. June 24 at the corner of Kelly and Reservoir drives in North Philadelphia's East Fairmount Park, according to law enforcement officials.
Police said the driver was heading eastbound on Kelly Drive when they tried to make an illegal turn onto Reservoir Drive; once they realized they could not, the driver attempted to veer back into the eastbound lane.
That’s when the SUV hit Bryce Wolfe, who was riding his motorcycle, authorities said. He was trapped underneath the vehicle and dragged for more than a mile as the driver fled the scene, according to investigators.
Medics found Wolfe in the area of Fountain Green Drive and took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died early on the morning of June 25, law enforcement officials said.
A native of Luzerne County, Wolfe was studying actuarial science at Temple and was a rider coach at Motorcycle Safety Academy, according to his obituary.
“Though his time on earth was far too short, he filled those years with purpose, compassion, determination, and an unwavering commitment to helping others,” his family wrote.
Detectives described the suspect’s vehicle as a white 2001 to 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer with recent damage on the driver’s side. The SUV may have red paint spots, a broken rear windshield and a discolored wheel on the front passenger’s side, police stated.
