Philadelphia celebrated the start of Pride Month Sunday with its annual Philly Pride March and Festival, as part of a citywide series of events under this year's theme, 'Pride Is Power.'
Thousands filled Center City from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum as the city celebrated its annual Pride March and Festival with a wave of colors and sounds celebrating the power of pride. The decision to move this year's march from the Gayborhood and its expansion was driven by a need for increased space as the event continues to grow. By increasing the space, the festival offered an even larger and thus safer space for the city, while allowing for even more to come and celebrate joy, visibility and community.
