In shocking news reported by Anthony SanFilippo of Crossing Broad, Philadelphia Flyers forward Sean Couturier has suffered a herniated disc in his back and is expected to miss several months.
Per Elliotte Freidman, the Flyers and Couturier are seeking a second opinion on the matter. Pain reportedly occurred during a skate a few days ago, but it is not expected to be in the same area as Couturier's previous injury.
Couturier played in 29 games during 2021-2022 after undergoing season-ending back surgery in February. Couturier met with the media at the Philadelphia Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, NJ, last Monday.

Couturier mentioned that he experienced some setbacks during his summer training as intensity began to increase.

Update: The Philadelphia Flyers have confirmed Sean Couturier has an upper-body injury and he will be re-evaluated during training camp. Couturier is listed as 'week-to-week,' according to Charlie O'Connor.
