Sixers sign MarJon Beauchamp to Exhibit 10 deal, waive Emoni Bates

The Sixers made another preseason addition Tuesday evening as the team announced the signing of former first-round pick MarJon Beauchamp. The defensive-minded wing was waived by the Portland Trail Blazers last week.

Over the course of his young, three-year career, Beauchamp has averaged 4.1 points on 43.0 percent shooting, along with 1.9 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per game across 135 career games (12 starts). In that time, he has played primarily with the Milwaukee Bucks, also spending time as a member of the LA Clippers and New York Knicks.

According to sources, Beauchamp is signing an Exhibit 10 contract with the team, meaning he is likely to be waived prior to the season and will join Philadelphia's G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.

In a corresponding move, the team announced that they have waived Emoni Bates.

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer was the first to report the possibility on Sunday, acknowledging that at that time, there was still a chance for Beauchamp to renegotiate a deal with Portland.

Beauchamp will have the opportunity to prove himself once more with the Sixers, and likely the Blue Coats, as he looks to re-establish his career. A known irritant on the defensive end, Beauchamp has a good chance of catching head coach Nick Nurse's eye if all breaks right.
