On Tuesday morning, the Philadelphia Union unveiled their new primary 1776 Kit, which the team will wear in front of their home fans at Subaru Park for the next two seasons.
The Blue and Gold’s new look helps kick off a new era for the Union, who are entering their 2nd season under Head Coach Bradley Carnell and have made significant roster moves over the off-season in hopes of freshening the squad and building on their 2025 MLS Supporters’ Shield campaign.
The 1776 Kit, while acting as a visual representation of a new era for the Union, pays homage to the past and the role that the City of Philadelphia played in the American Revolution and the birth of a Nation.
The kit is appropriately timed, with Philadelphia being the epicenter of the Semiquincentennial, the United States’ 250th birthday celebration, with the City of Brotherly Love playing host to many big events like the PGA Tour, the NCAA March Madness Tournament, the MLB All-Star game, and, of course, the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 1776 Kit, inspired by the city’s rebellious spirit and blue-collar grit, features notable landmarks and figures from Philadelphia’s past that represent the Union, their fans, and the place they come from.
With a layered design that incorporates historical references, typography, and architectural elements that you’ll find around the city of Philadelphia, fans will immediately recognize many of the historic symbols featured on the kit, including Benjamin Franklin, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Liberty Bell, and John Hancock’s signature on the Declaration of Independence, George Washington’s Statue, Commodore John Barry’s Statue, and the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.
“The 1776 Kit represents a historic moment for Philadelphia and for the club, America’s 250th anniversary and the FIFA World Cup create a unique opportunity to showcase Philadelphia’s history, pride, and global relevance, and this jersey is a symbol of that moment. It’s a reflection of who we are, where we come from, and the significance of this year for our city, our fans, and our organization.” -Amanda Young Curtis, SVP Marketing and Communications, Philadelphia Union.
The 1776 Kit is now on sale and available at MLSStore.com, Fanatics.com, and Adidas.com. The club will also be hosting 3 pop-up events this weekend in Center City, where fans can purchase the new 1776 Kit.
