How last night's Eagles signings impact the team

Posted

Howie Roseman continues to make small depth signings this offseason adding wide receiver Elijah Moore to the mix and bringing back swing tackle Fred Johnson, inking both to one-year deals on Wednesday.

More on Moore

The former second round pick in 2021 by the New York Jets has bounced around in his five seasons in the NFL. He spent his first two years with the Jets posting a career-best five touchdowns in his rookie season to go with 538 yards receiving.

Since then, Moore has not had the same success finding the endzone, scoring four times in the last four years with time spent in Cleveland and Buffalo.

Last season, he played in nine games and made two starts with the Bills, catching just nine passes for 112 yards. Turning 26 in two days, Moore is still on the younger side but more than likely slots in as a depth receiver on the Eagles’ roster at this time behind A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Hollywood Brown and Darius Cooper.

In his career, he has played in 70 games with 42 being starts and has hauled in 209 catches for 2,274 yards with nine touchdowns.

It is of note that Moore and Brown are very close and were college roommates during their playing days at Ole Miss.

Big Fred is back

Johnson will return for his fourth season in Philadelphia. After starting his career in Cincinnati and then spending a season in Tampa, Johnson has found a home with the Eagles.

Prior to the start of last season, he was looking to become a starter for a team and latched on with Jacksonville, but after not getting much runway, the Eagles traded to get him back on their roster.

He has filled an important role as the backup swing tackle, helping fill the void left by injured starting linemen, including stepping in for the final eight games of last season when Lane Johnson missed the rest of the year due to his foot injury.

The 6-foot-7, 325 pound lineman didn’t grade out all that well last season, but neither did the unit as a whole. Johnson played in a career-high 626 snaps in 2025 and will play under new offensive line coach Chris Kuper this upcoming season.
