Less than 24 hours after announcing the hiring of Sean Mannion as the new offensive coordinator, the Philadelphia Eagles made another addition to the offensive coaching staff hiring former Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard as the team’s new pass game coordinator according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

With the hire, that means current pass game coordinator Parks Fraizer could be leaving Philly.

Grizzard, 35, who was one of four candidates to have a second interview with Philadelphia for the offensive coordinator position, was let go by Tampa Bay after just one season as its offensive coordinator. The first-year OC had to navigate a year that saw numerous injuries to key offensive players including running back Bucky Irving, future Hall of Fame wide receiver Mike Evans along with one of their top offensive linemen in Tristan Wirfs.

He was the team’s pass game coordinator in 2024 under Liam Cohen where the Buccaneers had a top-five offense and specifically oversaw the third-down play-calling for Tampa Bay where they led the NFL with a 51.1% conversion rate that season. That season, Tampa Bay averaged 28.6 points per game under Cohen with Grizzard helping the cause.

Grizzard played collegiately at Yale from 2008-2011 as a safety and has been a coach in the NFL since 2017, starting with the Miami Dolphins as an offensive quality coach.

The unique blend of Josh Grizzard and Sean Mannion has great boom or bust potential. The offense can either be lightyears ahead of the 2025 unit or they can crash and burn. But if they do succeed then the Eagles have set themselves up with a unique advantage.

If Mannion is as highly coveted as it has been reported then his departure next season could lead to the Eagles sliding Josh Grizzard into the offensive coordinator role which would be a promotion for him. Things have just gotten very interesting in Philadelphia, you can breathe now, Eagles fans.
