The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to once again make the trip across the pond for a battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars. If you're going to be joining them (or just want to feel even more fomo), here's a handy London guide for the travelling Philadelphia faithful.
It's impossible not to bring up Passyunk Avenue when discussing things Philly fans should do in London. A Philadelphia-themed bar that serves authentic cheesesteaks and countless other options along with a vast array of alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks, it's simply a must for anyone travelling to London.
The walls are covered in Philly sports memrobilia from jerseys and flags to dollars with 'Go Birds' written on them. They've previously had Jason Kelce's Mummers Parade hat from that iconic Super Bowl 52 speech on display, and in Waterloo, even have a Stained Glass window depicting Nick Foles lifting the Lombardi Trophy!
There are 4 venues dotted around London, all with a different feel. In Waterloo, there's a batting cage, arcade machines, and beer taps where you can pay with contactless and pour your own pint. Fitzrovia has a more intimiate feel but you still end up trying to take everything in, not trying to miss a single jersey of niche reference to tell your friends about.
And food wise, this might be controversial but their cheesesteaks rival what I tried in Philly...and I tried a lot. I'll save my rankings for another time, but we're talking pillowy-soft bread, tender beef, and enough Cheese Wiz to make you want to order a second!
The four locations are as follows:
Fitzrovia:
80 Cleveland Street, Fitzrovia,
London, W1T 6NE
Waterloo:
Leake Street Arches,
22 Leake Street, Waterloo,
London SE1 7NN
Battersea:
7 New Union Square, Embassy Gardens,
Kensington:
16 Kensington Church Street, Kensington,
London, W8 4EP
When: Thursday October 8th - Saturday October 10th
Where: Leake Street, Waterloo
If you're going to miss the many smells and tastes of Reading Terminal Market, don't fear. Passyunk Ave. will be running their own 'Wooderloo' market just for those with Delco ball knowledge! Situated a few minutes from Waterloo Station are tunnels adorned with graffiti (impossible to miss) along with bars and food spots. But for one week only, the tunnels will be transformed into a Philadelphia tribute.
Expect American snacks and staples, merch pop-ups, mobile bars, and so much more!
