Three people, including a teenager, were hurt when gunfire erupted Sunday night outside a SEPTA station in West Philadelphia.

The shooting happened at around 6:45 p.m. near the 56th Street stop on the L, formerly the Market-Frankford Line, according to authorities.

Police said a 14-year-old boy was shot twice in his left arm and twice in his upper right thigh, while a 25-year-old man was struck once in his right arm and twice in the back. Both were hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries, law enforcement officials said.

A 26-year-old man who suffered five gunshot wounds throughout his body was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition, according to the PPD.

SEPTA officials told Metro that all of the spent shell casings were found on the street near the stop. One of the victims was in the street-level station vestibule when he was shot; he fled up to the elevated platform and collapsed while going over a crosswalk, authority representatives said.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the violence, and there was no word on a possible motive. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477). Information can be shared anonymously.

More than 600 people have been shot in Philadelphia this year, down 26% from the same date in 2025, according to PPD data.
