Four people were wounded when gunfire erupted at rush hour Tuesday evening in West Philadelphia, police said.
The shooting happened just after 5 p.m. on the 1200 block of N. 42nd Street in the Parkside neighborhood, according to authorities.
Law enforcement officials have not provided much detail about the circumstances that led to the violence, but they said three men — ranging in age from 41 to 45 — and a 28-year-old woman were hurt. All four were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center to be treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, the PPD said. Investigators told television crews at the scene that at least six shots were fired.
Police have not commented on a possible motive, and no arrests had been reported as of Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
Through May 12, 199 people had been shot in Philadelphia this year, down nearly 40% compared to the same date in 2025, according to police data.
