Chef Yehuda Sichel’s latest concept will start service soon in Fishtown, and as you can imagine, it involves some juicy handhelds.
Huda Burger has announced its opening date (Nov. 19) at 1603 Frankford Avenue. The new fast-casual burger shop will focus on a rotating lineup of five to six smash burgers served on Huda’s signature house-made Japanese-style seeded milk buns.
Most may know Sichel’s cuisine from his popular sandwich shop, Huda, which serves up sandwiches with grilled swordfish, Korean chicken, Maitake Mushroom and more. Now, Sichel plans to bring his two decades (and counting) of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry to this new locale.
“My partner Dan Berkowitz (CEO and Co-founder of 100x Hospitality) and I have been talking about Huda Burger for five years, and we’re so excited to finally make it real,” says Sichel. “Fishtown is quickly becoming a burger mecca, and we think the neighborhood will really connect with a local concept that’s all about great ingredients, serious flavor, and amazing burgers.”
And what can be ordered up?
As a release notes, Huda Burger will feature a classic cheeseburger, a create-your-own option, and a vegetarian burger. There will also be a pastrami fried onion burger, an option that's a cross between a pastrami burger and an Oklahoma-style smash burger, and even a cheeseburger salad. The menu will also include crispy chicken sandwiches, curly fries, house-made pickles, and classic milkshakes in vanilla, chocolate, and black & white. Additionally, Huda Burger will offer soft-serve from 1-900-Ice-Cream (which is also being used in the milkshakes.)
The space on Frankford Ave features a half dozen indoor counter seats and a few outdoor tables. In addition to dine-in and pickup, third-party delivery will also be available for those who want to try from home. Huda Burger will open daily at 11 a.m., serving all day, “with plans to stay open late night as the shop ramps up.”
